I have searched this and found potentially similar problems, but not sure if its exactly right so asking the question. Apologies if a duplicate. I am a new OneNote Mac user, migrated from Evernote.
I have a 2008 MacBook pro running Sierra 10.12.2. My Onenote version is 15.29 so I think I'm fully up to date. It crashes (Application Not Responding in icon and dock, spinny wheel). I force quit and it opens again fine, runs for a day or so then same problem. I have read about issues with changing networks.
I am only using this at home, but I do have more than one wifi networks. I've tried to find the last crash report but don't know how to do that. Thanks for any help and again apologies if I have repeated and existing problem. Hi Ma tt, Thanks for sharing the experience with us. Based on your description, I understand that OneNote 2016 on your Mac crashes randomly but not each time when you start it. Please try the steps below to check the result.
Go to System Preferences and open Network. Click on Advanced and go to Proxies. Turn off if ' Auto Proxy Discovery' or ' Automatic Proxy Configuration' is turned on. If the issue persists, please share more information with us. Is OneNote 2016 the only application that occurs this issue?.

Capture a screenshot about the configuration of your Mac pro and you can also compare it with the System Requirement from this. Regards, William. Thanks William None of the proxy options were turned on.
Re your other questions: 1. Onenote is the only app this happens with. This is my config (I hope!). I couldnt find anything re Mac sys requirements at the link you shared: Hardware Overview: Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro9,2 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 2.9 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 8 GB Boot ROM Version: MBP91.00D3.B0E.
← OneNote for Mac Allow Plain-Text-Only Notebooks In the process of writing a book (or manuscript beforehand), I can not mess around with formatting and also don't want to be distracted with. Microsoft OneNote is a very popular digital notebook, however there are. With regards to clarity, text formatting, and multimedia, Evernote is comparable to Microsoft's. On any platform such as iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, or on the web. However, multimedia features or the ability to insert or edit documents are.
Version (system): 2.2f44 Serial Number (system): Hardware UUID: Sudden Motion Sensor: State: Enabled 3. Crash report below. I have had to post only the first part as message board wont let me post full message (thanks!). the log has been modified. I have the same issue on iMac Retina (32Gb RAM) except for me OneNote crashes several times an hour-whenever attempting to move a line or block of text, mostly, but other times as well. This, after I had committed to using OneNote instead of Evernote and doing task management from within the app. Very disappointed overall at the lack of vigor in the Mac vs the PC version of OneNote but thankful for some attempts to not lose Mac users entirely.
I also do not have the proxies mentioned above checked ON in Network Preferences. The only redeeming fact is that the app reloads promptly and so far, I have not lost information.
But I also have lost confidence that I can trust my important data to OneNote until this matter is addressed. Frankly, I'd be surprised if an individual product user can get the ear of anybody w MS at a level that can FIX this issue affecting on Mac users. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for any suggestions from this message board. Hi Ma tt, Thanks for getting back. For the system requirements, you may refer to the Office Home & Student 2016 for Mac and Office Home & Business 2016 for Mac section from the article.
Meanwhile, please provide the entire crash report via attachment to us in PM. You can click ' More Information ' in the ' Microsoft Error Reporting ' alert, copy all the information and paste into a text editor save it as file send the file to us. To protect your privacy, I've sent you a to collect it. Regards, William.

Nothing in this thread is helpful. My OneNote crashes multiple times an hour unless all I do is type.
Attempting to move a single outline bullet is all it takes, much less a larger block of text around on the page. It makes using the app pointless for productivity. This behavior started in the past couple of weeks only. Running latest OS on iMac w 32 gb RAM.
I'm going to hate shuttering OneNote for whatever comes next. I have been using it since the very first version before changing PC to MAC. But so far, actual support/answers have been impossible to locate. I think I am not alone in this kind of issue w OneNote for Mac. Hi Fredfirst, I understand you have some trouble using OneNote 2016 on Mac. We’ll try to help you resolve this issue.
Please confirm the exact version of your OneNote 2016 for Mac. The latest version: 15.29.1 (Build 16121500) was released last month on 15 th, please check if your Office 2016 apps are up to date. If not, please update them to the latest version. For reference: To narrow down the issue, please provide the following information:.
Only OneNote 2016 is affected? No other Office app crashes?. When you say, “OneNote crashes multiple times an hour unless all I do is type”, does that mean it crashes only when it’s ideal?.
You mentioned, this behavior started couple of weeks ago, do you remember if that was after any changes were made? Any update to the Operating system or Office update? Thanks, Neha.
